Fall is the best time for transplanting shrubs

Question I just purchased one and need to plant it in my yard, where should it be planted (full sun) or shade? Also when should I plant it? There were no instructions with the plant. It is beautiful and I really want it in my yard. I live in NW Iowa ( sioux City) Thank you
