I have one large great room -- kitchen, dining and living all together. The dining area has a completely different set of lights from the kitchen island pendants. And you can see it all at one look. I happen to like it.
If you like it, it will work.
It is all a matter of taste. Are the finishes in the same family, i.e. chrome, brass? Is one more traditional and the others more modern? Do they throw enough light for any tasks at had after dark with no natural light from outside?
I personally like the curated over time look and not matchy matchy. I have also mixed metals in a couple rooms. If you love it, then it works. If you are on the fence, take a trusted family member or friend whose opinions matter and who will tell you the truth.
In the end, it is your house, you live there and if they make you happy, then do it.
Sounds good to me! I would like the metal color to match though if in the same room. Such as all chrome etc:
Your home, Your rules! It's what YOU like that counts. Go for it and enjoy.
Your home , your taste and they don't all have to match . I kind of like the idea of several pendant lights in different shapes and sizes as long as the metal color matches .
There is one thing that I wish someone had shared with me before I chose mine though . My husband recently replaced the light fixture over the dining room table with one of those that looks like upside down mason jars on long cables: kind of an industrial look and it uses Edison bulbs . We got it at Lowe's and bought the clear Edison bulbs. Installed it and excitedly screwed in all eight bulbs, flipped the light switch and was blinded by the heat of a thousand suns lol. It was incredibly bright! We brought the bulbs back and got amber Edison bulbs in the lowest wattage made and they're still incredibly bright but there are eight of them .
Have fun with your's. Choose what makes you happy . I liked mine so much , I got a different lantern shaped one for over the kitchen sink .
Just a thought...if you go the Edison bulbs (which I love) shop around for them. We bought and installed 8 of them in a new fixture, the LED ones. Right at about 8 dollars each. Two days later we saw the SAME bulbs at Rural King TWO for 9 dollars! Of course all our packaging was gone so we couldn't return the high dollar ones....Live and learn!
