Stained my white cedar wood shingles with California Storm

Stained it 8 years ago, last summer it needed to be done again so I stained it with Benjamin Moore Arborcoat, solid grey. One year later the Arborcoat began bubbling and lifting in 3-5" pieces, often the whole shingle. Both stains were water based. It seems like the Arborcoat did not like the storm stain as the old storm stain came off aattached to the Arborcoat, leaving the bare cedar shingles on all four sides of my house in many many places on my home. I complained to Benjamin Moore and even talked to the company rep who said it was surface preparation. What preparation? The storm stain was not peeling and did not need to be scraped. Basically paint guarantees are completely useless as they can wiggle out of them in so many ways, and they only cover the paint not my labor to apply 2 coats. Excuses: poor surface preparation, weather conditions when applied, too hot, too cold, too humid, rain, too much sun, moisture from the backside if the shingles- how is someone supposed to change that anyway? You can see what I mean. Even if they replace the stain, would I like to use it again after what has happen! Labor is the greatest cost. I am not wealthy so I have to do it myself. I am very upset and perplexed!😒
