When will I be able to put the pine tree in the ground outside, right now it is about 1 inch tall, I did transplant it in to a medium size terra cotta pot already.

  • It will need to get a little bigger before you transplant outside. If you like, you can set the pot outside now during the day when the temps are nice. When it gets to be 6 - 8 inches tall, re pot into a larger vessle and then set outside in a protected area until it becomes acclimated to its surroundings. Then plant in ground but be watchful, at least through the first full year. Check with your local Ag Center as I am sure they will have additional info that will be helpful.

So happy you took on the task of growing your own pine tree! I have grown a bunch of lemon trees and a few fig trees from seed, but not a pine tree yet, hope to at some point.

    Happy spring!
