Front door ideas?

For your porch decorations I would paint the chairs a color to give them some definition.Plant up some colorful flowers in pots for your stairs.Place a colorful mat in front of the door.Put a wreath of some sort on the door.

They sell paint exactly for that reason now. I think k it's by Benjamin Moore. I guess it really all depends on your taste and guts. I would use a color other than white because I'm not into traditional stuffy look. I want to let people know that I have personality. I would also paint screen door the same color. People usually go with red but for me that's playing it safe,if you have the guts to pick a different color go for it. I always say you pay the mortgage not anyone else and you should smile when you get home your safe zone. I would then pick either the color opposite on the color wheel for the rockers and plants ,it will work because it has been thought out for you. Other option is to keep it all in the same family just different hues. So if you picked cobalt blue purples would like great. You have a beautiful porch which I hope you can and will enjoy for a long time. Floors going up each step may look nice but you have to keep in mind that then it's harder to hold railing. I say hanging baskets and 2 large urns that you plant annuals in very dramatic by front door on both sides. I don't know where you are but if in south I would change out light over door for a ceiling fan or a black lantern. I would also add more sitting everything is very symmetrical so I would place rockers with a small table for drinks on one side and a swing or glider with a table on other side. I think removing the storm door would add value to the whole facade........upscale houses don't have them. But, if insulation or other element come into play, then leave it alone. I've left mine on because I can then open the interior door and let my two wiener dogs lay there in the sun and bark at everything that moves outside; dogs, people, leaves, squirrels, zombies..............(we don't actually have zombies......yet!) smh

With your house color and lots of white trim you could go with something bold and bright--bright red, yellow, or purple and paint your rockers to match. Potted plants flanking the doors would bring it all together. Great house by the way!...and those zombies--they'll just let themselves right in and make themselves at home LOL :)

Paint it RED. It will pop with the beautiful gray house color.

What a lovely house! If it were mine, I'd pick a rich Eggplant color for the door - it's a nice change from the usual red or black. I'd have classic black urns on either side of the door or grey concrete (or good faux concrete). If you pick black iron, remember the iron will really heat up any plants due to your sun exposure, therefore, concrete might be best. Paint the rockers white if they need re-painting - or a medium grey could be nice too. I wouldn't paint the rockers the same as your front door should be the "star". If the chairs are a stain, go for that very elegant, yet casual, "driftwood sun-faded" look that's on the market. It's casual and rustic yet, somehow, looks classy too. If you were facing east, I would hang ferns but the nursery will have plenty of sun-loving choices.

the front door and the storm door paint the same color, makes the doorway look bigger.. The Trim around the door a contrasting color and paint the shutters to match... How about a bright Yellow that sure would POP with the Trim and shutters painted a Grass Green or paint the chairs in those colors no plant Pots on the steps but you could put them on the sidewalk across from the steps..Leaving plenty of room to walk and some Hanging plants across the whole porch... Go Bold and paint the spaces between the steps a bright color to give some color to the step area..?? Just suggestions,,,

Seems to me the lighter the paint color for the door, the less you'd notice fading. The bricks are already dark and a dark color on the door might be too much. I'd add railing planters and maybe topiaries on either side of the door. Personally, I like uncluttered stairs, less chance of tripping, but would maybe consider planters at the bottom on either side. I like the idea of making the rockers white, maybe with colorful cushions. So many options! Have fun making it yours!

You have enough room for a seating area on both sides of the door with a small table between chairs, centered on the windows on either side of the door. Planters on rails, hanging baskets with super petunias etc. Be brave with door color; bright, welcoming color. Use same sun resistant paint on Chairs and tables in foliage green perhaps or a different hue as suggested above. Be bold, if you don't like it, repaint ne element. Great sitting porch. Good luck. Burnt orange would be warm and inviting, yellow would be bold and bright. Both would work on door, chairs, accents. You can put up some colors with a pack of construction paper and see what you think.

In my opinion leaving the rockers the color they already are and just add colorful pillows. You already have enough white in the porch railings, the shutters and the door frame. I like the color that was mentioned, eggplant for the door. Someone else said they have urns on either side of the door, that's a good way of adding color by putting colorful plants in the urns. I also agree about not putting any pots on the stairs, rather at the bottom is better. You really need color in the beds that are right in front of the porch. What kind of bushes are those? Do have flowers?

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some paint samples. Start painting swatches on your door or shutters make it big enough to see from the street. Leave it for a few days and look at it in different lights from morning to evening and see which ones you like the best then have at it with the one or ones you love. I painted mine Olive green and it looks great with my brick. Good luck.

i think painting the door a purple color would be rich too. i would put two tall planters next to the door and maybe a pillow in each of the rockers. i think your home is lovely.
