One of the sweetest things about Spring is the exuberant singing of birds early in the mornings. I love adding the delightful and cheerful birds in my Spring decor.
As I go room by room Spring cleaning, I imagine how I'd love to bring Spring's beauty indoors. I have several ceramic birds and have been gifted with birdhouses. We enter our home through our dining room. These sweet birds cheerfully greet us each day!
I grouped these tabletop birdhouses. The general rule is - odd numbers are visually appealing.
Birds under glass! This tabletop Wardian case hosts a dove and her nest.
Adding bird's nests to the decor can be easily done. I make some and have found abandoned nests.
IF YOU FIND A BIRD’S NEST…
I’ve read that it is possible to bring abandoned bird nests in to add charm to your room decor. Here are a few considerations:
  • Make sure this nest is abandoned. If it fell from a storm, the babies could be nearby. You can replace a bird’s nest.
  • Bird nests can be messy afterwards. Shake off or brush off any dirt or debris.
  • Bird nests can be infested with bugs – place the bird nest in a plastic bag, seal the bag and freeze for a few days. Some place nests in the oven to kill bugs, if you do use great caution.
Use nests in your room decor areas away from food
These sweet little birds have such personality! They're easy to find at the craft and home decor stores this Spring. You can find these birds at any home decor store. They average about $5.00 each.
Suggested materials:
  • Ceramic and cast iron birds   (tabletop birdhouses)
  • DIY and natural bird's nests
