Are you keeping the soil moist? Does the plant get 6-8 hours of sun daily? Those are crucial elements! ☀️ 😀

Make sure your seed is fresh. Old seed doesn't germinate well. Or you could buy a small potted plant at the grocery store or local nursery. Cuttings will also root in water.

fresh seed does grow best... to test your seed- soak a paper towel in water place a few seeds on the upper half fold the bottom to the top. put in a warm place for a few days. if sprouts it's not the seed. seeds/seedlings don't need a fertilizer until they have about 4 leaves. 2 little baby leaves and then the true leaves show. that's when a dose of fertilizer should be given- i use a granular time release type.

some potting mixes come with the fertilizer in it.

i have my basil in a 12 inch pot. it re seeds it's self.

I live in WA and our temp doesn't support enough heat or dry weather for basil. I purchased an aero garden and I have basil, cilantro, dill all year long. You can use your own seeds with a seed kit. Love it
