If you're looking for a humane solution, your best bet is to do a thorough check for any cracks around windows/ doors and the roof. You'll likely find how they're getting in!
Keep a live Basil Plant on each side of the Entrance Door. If your Home becomes over run with Lady Bugs just put a Live Basil Plant(Potted) in all your sinks. Next day you can just wash all the little bodies down the drain. Live Basil Plants emits a sent they do not like and of course it does eliminate them all together.
