What can you put in your flower bed to keep the weeds out?

    Lay down cardboard in the flower beds then cover with mulch.

    When my husband cuts the grass-he pours the clippings on the garden. It turns brown quickly-biodegradable-free. Just be sure flowers or veggies are up or you will kill them too. We don't use any chemicals on the back yard so it's clean clippings.

      i thought grass clippings caused weeds to grow, I always tell anyone who cuts my yard to not let the cut grass get in my beds or gravel. So it won't cause weeds?

    Place heavy duty landscape cloth in the garden beds.

    newpaper....put in place and soak with water

    mulch will help, it will not got rid of them all but it keeps the weeding to a minimum. landscape cloth works as well.

    I usually put down a layer of newspaper, several sheets thick, and then cover with a thick layer of grass clippings (we don't use chemical fertilizers on the lawn). Both materials eventually break down and help to enrich the soil.
