How to decorate a wall with a world map?

  • Shop Amazon or Home school supply for the map and either mod podge it to your wall or make a frame for it from moulding from any builders supply. Or take it and have it professionally framed. Depends upon the budget you have for the project.

Decoupage would be great. Block off a section large enough for the map with painter's tape. Decoupage the map to the wall. Seal. Could be framed out with reclaimed wood. You could burn the edges of the map for a cool effect. Have fun!

Hang from a long curtain rod against the wall. You can put holes in the top for use of shower curtain rings... That way, you don't have to decoupage to wall. I might decoupage the map alone so it has a clear coating for protection. I would look into the different options of doing that because you don't want the map to yellow with any type of coating. I don't know what yellows and what doesn't over time.

You can also purchase a map that is already coated like the ines we used to see in schools.

Do own this map and is it framed or do you want to buy a map? I ask because of the aging of map. Regardless I find that rooms with maps are usually in a library type of reading room or home office that tends to be masculine. The map depending on size could be put up with more maps showing how things have changed throughout time. Or you can add ships from that time period and have them framed as original map is framed. You can also decorate with globes on shelves. I love maps they show us so many changes that have happened. I just don't have room for one as a focal point which is how I would treat that piece of art.

Good question that I don't have an answer for. But possibly.
