Can I apply a wax finish to this piece?

Refinished this piece and sealed it with polyacrylic? Heard about wax finish and am wondering if it can be applied now? What does the wax finish do besides make the piece darker and does it come in other color options besides dark? How do you care for the furniture after it is applied? Does it need to be sealed?
Thanks

Sadly no. Polyacrylic seals the finish. This piece is beautiful-great job!. For future reference you wax after painting, then you seal. I was a dealer for Vintage Market and Design chalk based paint line and I can recommend their products. They are chemically formulated to work together. They have paints, glazes, waxes sealants and more, just google them. Clearly you have great skills!

Thanks for the suggestions, which I will try next time and also for the compliments. The unit was old, scarred and in general pretty beat up. No pictures of the before but looks okay now. Thanks!

I would love to know the colour that you used on this very pretty piece if you have a moment. Very nice job and fits nicely for a "masculine" eye too!! Regards, Linda

The color is deceiving. It was a bright blue from Home depot (you can see the original paint color on the wall behind the drawer unit). My husband had picked out the color for his office. I used the left over for the base then used minwax white/washed oak water based stain for the top coat that I applied with a rag (believe it-better control of the paint) and then after a couple minutes I wiped it gently with a damp cloth to remove a bit of the white. Top coat was Polyacrylic - satin finish (2 coats-for wear protection). My husband likes it and I admit it's grown on me.
