I love chalkpaint- it cuts out half the work for you, no need to sand or prime, just clean the surface and paint! And, I love the distressed effect it gives. Have fun!!

only problem I've found is it is hard to clean - wipes off to the undercoat. Also, my dog loves to like it!

I too appreciate the look of chalk paint, but I'm a clean freak, so I ALWAYS have to consider clean up and maintenance. Unless you apply a flat sheen wipe on polyurethane, I'd be concerned about fingerprints and every day cleaning. Best of luck.

If you use chalk based paint on kitchen cabinets, you will definitely want to seal it. Anytime water may come into contact with chalk based paint it needs to be sealed. Chalk based paint has almost no smell unlike latex paint. The sealant generally has no smell either since it's water based. I use and recommend Heirloom Traditions products. You can save 10% by using code DSD at www.HeirloomTraditionsPaint.com. The sealant is available in Matte, Semi-Gloss and Gloss finishes.
