I have a large brass pot with a handle that hasn't been cleaned in the past 50 years so it has to be a powerful cleaner.

Pouring some fairly coarse salt on it and then rubbing with half a lemon at a time just scrub it and you will see the lovely brass coming through if I recall correctly. Now I have no idea if it is "green" or not but Barkeeper's Friend is a no-fail way to go also. It can be bought on Amazon for convenience because I do not know where you live. Hope it helps.

Ketchup. Slather it on, let it sit for a while, wipe and rinse off.

I had good luck with salt and white vinegar. Pour on salt. Soak a paper towel in white vinegar and lay across. Keep it wet for a few minutes then rub. Repeat till shiny.

Use any cleaner that is designed for polishing cars. T cut etc. Works a treat on my brass fender and fire surround.

If you plan to sell it, don't clean it - you will decrease the value. If you plan to use it, choose any of the above methods and see if it works for you.
