I had great success removing a vomit stain from a mattress that was months old. I had assumed it was a permanent stain but than thought, "what can I loose"? I made a paste of water and home made dry detergent and rubbed the paste on the stain Wiped it off with a damp cloth and was amazed at the results. Cant even see the outline of where the stain was. Homemade detergent was as follows...

    3 bars Fels Naphtha

    1 large box washing soda

    1 large box borax

1 large tub oxy clean (or your choice of non bleach)

(microwave each bar 1 minute and cut into 1 inch cubes) Place in a food processor with 2 cups of washing soda and blend till soap is a fine powder mix.

Mix with remaining ingredients. Used emptied containers to store the HMD (Home made Detergent)
