Make sure the next vessel is large enough for future growth with good drainage, use the appropriate soil for citrus, dig out carefully and take the entire rootball to the new container, loosen the roots a bit if rootbound and water well the first few days after transplanting. Lemons generally do not like wet feet and need well drained soil.
I just transplanted 2 fig trees (yes a different tree), and 8 days later I aleady had new growth sprouting. So inspect your tree carefully every day for the first couple of weeks.
You can do it, and it will be just fine! 🍋
Depending on how large the root system is ,make sure you use at least one size up.Gently pull the roots and if need be cut them.Make sure you use a good potting soil. Layer the bottom of the pot a little, place the tree and slowly add the soil making sure all the air is out. Water just enough so the roots do not dry out. When transplanted make sure it is done before any heat arises.
