primary colors red yellow blue....complementary orange green yellow, mono chromatic 1 color diluted with a certain percentages of white. blue is a classic pairing with gold/ yellow.

  • I would say that almost any color can go with yellow. It really depends on your taste. Black, grey and yellow is popular. If you look in nature where yellow occurs, you will see so many pairings, it is limitless.

Pay attention to "shade"....there are a lot of different kinds of yellow! Like the other comments say --- you can put almost any "color" with yours depending on your taste and style. Do a google image search for ideas. Post a pic for more specific ideas!

Maybe a light green! With yellow I would do like a French Country theme.

Sometimes it is hard to visualize how colors look near each other. Simple way to have try-outs: Get clothing or anything of the colors you THINK might work. Hold them (Have someone assist) next to the present cabinets & see if you like a particular one. Do this in natural & artificial lighting, daytime & nighttime. Good luck!

What about fabric? If your doors have a raised edge around them use fabric and Mod Podge to attach it. It can be removed before you move.

Complementary colours are orange, green and purple. Purple is the complementary colour to yellow and so it would be a great colour to use as an accent! If it is a warmer deeper yellow blue is a good complementary colour and could evolve into a Mediterranean style. While a bit muted, greys are a good choice. you can also go with the other primary colour - red! As others have suggested, its works well to choose a similar hue to your yellow in the accent colour you choose. Buy some cushions in various colours, bring them home, hold them against the yellow, and choose the colours that makes you feel happy! Return the cushions to the store and buy the the accent items you want in those colours!!

I would first ask the landlord if it's okay to paint or change anything in his house. Some folks are real stuffy about that sort of thing. Just make sure you don't do anything that will cause you to lose your security deposit.

Get some paint chips and hang them on the wall for a week, until you favor one.

Maybe they will let you paint them.

  • Wouldn't hurt to ask...thanx!
