Curtains - from pinch pleat to panels- can I use regular curtains?

I'm not a curtain-y kind of person and the house I'm renting has these horrid floral pinch pleat curtains. Can I use regular curtains on that rod? I can't say how much i HATE those curtains. thank you for any ideas

yes you can as long as the new curtains have a big enough pocket to slip ober the flatter rod that is used for pleated curtains. You can slide off the little thingies that hold the hooks. Make sure you save them to put back when you move.

If the pinch pleated curtains open and close with a pull cord on a traverse rod, that rod is too wide for a rod pocket curtain.
