Painted outdoor cushions- how can I make them soft?

i want to paint my outdoor cushions,they are in good condition, the paint will make them hard, i would like to make the sittable how can i make them a little softer. is there anything i can use to make them soft? thank you

Try adding water to the paint.
I've heard that you can keep the soft feel of fabric by spraying with water before you paint and adding water to the paint. Would love to hear your project turns out. My cushions could use a freshener; I cleaned them with Borax but was unable to get out a few stains.
