there isn't too much you can do except pull them. if you put any chemicals on them you risk poisoning the soil If it rained.

Yes, pull the weeds but then you can use Preen to prevent new growth. Warning, you can't start flowers from seed after using preen

I've used a spot shot of weed spray on weeds in flower beds but I make mine with dawn dish soap, salt and vinegar. It will kill anything it touches so you have to be careful but it won't infiltrate the soil.

    1 gallon vinegar

    1 cup salt

    6 T Dawn dish soap

pull them, or use a narrow hoe...

then mulch first with sections of newspaper, then bark mulch or whatever you prefer...newspaper is an amazing weed barrier, and with the new soy-based inks, it's safe to use in a veggie garden.

you may even see an increase in earthworm activity, I know mine adore it.

    1) wait for a hot sunny day, paint the weed killer on the problem with a paint brush.

    2) deprive of sunshine- cut problem plant down to a few inches cover with clay pot drain hole blocked. newspaper or other mulch around pot.
