Can Thompson's Water Seal be put over Cabots Gold Deck Stain?
Our deck was stained with Cabot's Gold Deck Stain and shows grey patches when it rains. The water doesn't bead up on the deck. Cabot's is an oil base stain. Hope some can give us suggestions.

No! Thompson's Water Seal needs to absorb deep into the wood to protect seal it. Does not provide UV protection. Did you apply two coats of stain? Let the first coat dry at least 24 hours before applying the second coat. Let dry for three days before returning furniture to a deck.
