I am doing this because my father-in-law passed away and we need to clean and sell his house.

I find it best not to price anything.I just wait until someone asks and give a price.Less work and even if you do price items the people chew the cost down.

I won't buy anything at a sale if it isn't priced. Some people just won't ask. But you could do big poster board signs with All Clothes $1.00 each or something like that. Price labels are cheap & can be found at dollar stores for other items. Price everything low & it should go fast. Good luck!

First, don't expect retail prices for anything! Even if it's an antique or collectable, people want a bargain and may walk away if they think the price is too high (even when it's not). It really depends on how badly you want to sell stuff.

If you are looking to SELL everything- Mark everything cheap and add the word "negotiable"-on big items.

You will not "make money" on a garage sale. You will clear things out that you don't want, though, if prices are low.

I went to a couple of local second-hand stores and got some pricing ideas for items such as small kitchen things (coffee pots, etc.) That was a help. Then I priced many things with some "leeway" to negotiate - such as $7 for something I'd take $5 for!

Thanks for the ideas. We will go to second hand stores and take a look. That will probably help us the most.

Separate into under $5, $10 $20's. Make a give-away box of freebie's for those who buy. Have 2-3 friends sit down and help price the big ticket items, With 3-4 suggestions, take the average.

Be careful people want everything for nothing just like a flea market they think its a free market
