I search home talk.com for most of my puzzling questions........that's where I found several "recipes" that work just like chalk paint and the price was so nice!!!
different options:
1) 2/3 c latex paint
1/3 c baking soda; mix well
2) 1/3 cup plaster of Paris mixed with just enough water to make a smooth paste, stirred into 1 cup of paint. Mix well.
3) 2/3 c paint mixed w 1/3 cup calcium carbonate.
