Refinished Small Antique Desk

Sometimes, in an old piece of furniture, the potential is hidden deep within. I always say painting is a skill, but vision is a gift. After I brought this little desk home I asked myself why I did! But, after some careful consideration I had a plan and knew it could be so much more! You can find the whole blog post here: http://createinspireme.blogspot.com/2014/01/boys-desk.html
Not very inspiring...
The first thing I always do is decide if the top can be restored. So many of these pieces have such lovely wood and in this case very unique. I loved the grain so sanded it all down, stained it, and gave it a few coats of poly.
I wanted it to have loads of character and look like it had been around the block (in a good way, lol) a few times. I chose to use milk paint because of the depth and variation in color. The color is perfect with the hardware!
Have ugly or stained drawers? Paper them or use fabric to line them. So cute!
It all came together and l love its new look!
