I've tried peroxide based cleaners but they all are heavily scented - one has a strong mint like smell and others smell of perfume. I am allergic.

I pour 1/3 box of baking soda in the toilet, a few squirts of Dawn dish liquid, then pour in some vinegar until it starts to foam up. Let it sit for about an hour, swish around with a toilet brush and flush.

Try denture cleaner tablets. Our new toilet came with that recommendation.

I have an older toilet and a septic lateral field and have used 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of Borax for years now. Swish around toilet bowl and leave over night. Helps with the ring around the bowl from hard water too.

I've used CLR cleaner from the Dollar Tree in my client's toliet that had heavy mineral deposits. I would let it sit in the toliet for an hour before flushing. It definitely removed all the lime buildup from his well water.

I just let vinegar sit a couple of minutes and then brush. If it needs more, let it soak longer.

I have also used dishwasher pucks/pods in toilets that haven't been used for a while. Just let it sit for a few hours if bad, if not 30 minutes, and brush.

I have sensitivities to chemical substances as well. :( No fun I have used cheap denture tablets or you can use more expensive ones. However, the ingredients are the same. Name is the only difference. After allowing the tablets (1 or 2) to dissolve, swish around to clean under the rim and all through. You can also drop a tablet in the tank and ever so often. That will keep things fresh as well. Baking soda and vinegar can work as well. I have used coke as well but then (lol) I have a hard time touching a coke to drink for a couple of days. Coke is also good for cleaning battery cables on the car. Good luck.

I've used denture cleaner tablets and also a 50/50 mixture of vinegar/Dawn soap.
