I do, just like all other blooming flowers, the more you pinch off the spent blooms, promotes new and more lush growth.

Yes. Pinch them off above the closest leaf to the dead flower. Most species will continue to bloom spring through fall.
Yes, also once the weather gets hot, transplant to a pot, cut back and keep in the shade. Often they will regrow to replant in the fall when it is cooler!
