What is Greatest way to minimize/heal sap loss where bolts are drilled in?

    Any time you introduce a foreign object into a hard stemmed plant such as a tree, you risk damage or infection to that plant! you did not state why you are drilling and bolting into the tree... small nails or screws as for a bird feeder are safer to use. if I were to really be careful I would put the nails and screws in a solution of 10% bleach and rinse them with water before using them same with larger bolts then get a sealer from a garden center. ome times a tree will heal its self right around a foreign object. good luck Wally
