What is the best under kitchen sink water filter? I have been searching and searching for a couple of months trying to figure which would be the best, ie; long lasting and price and of course how well they work. Anyone have one and your pros or cons?

personally I would not use one, anything under the cabinet gets forgotten, including instant hot water heaters. Forgotten means leaks.

(I use a 3M, model-3US-PS01. I have had it for over 5 years and change filters every 6 months, I don't forget it, cause the cold water starts slowing down when it's time to change. I always keep a new filter (3US-PF01) in the box, I pickup the replacement at Walmarts for about $27.00. It's worked for me, and the filter is easy to replace.

I'm on my second Watts Premier RO filter, just for drinking water. I wash dishes and clean with the water that goes through a softener. The newer Watts Premier models have filters that are easier to change now. And, no, I don't work for them or get paid to say this.

Mine has a total of 4 filter. 2 are changed every 6 months, 1 is changed once per year, and the RO filter is changed every 2-5 years, depending on how much water you use. When I bought the whole system, they had a package deal on a years worth of filters (not including RO) for about $35. It's much less expensive than buying water, and probably healthier. Just my opinion.

I opted for a whole-house Aquasana water purifying system and added filtered shower heads. I am sure Aquasana has a great under sink product, too. However, going the whole house way sure alleviated all my water worries.
