Try a mixture of baking soda and peroxide. I mix mine jut until it forms a nice paste. Then apply to the stain and let set for a while and wash as usual. This works great for me.

I agree! Bleach will set stains, yellow whites, and damage fibers. I use hydrogen peroxide when I wash my whites. Stronger bleaching agent and won't damage fibers.

Hi: when you say you use hydrogen peroxide for whites, how do you use it? Full strength? How much? In bleach dispenser or added to detergent dispenser? I'm always looking for whitening tips since I wear white shorts 80% of the time during our 6 month summers here in Austin. Thanks!

Hi Mary Pat! Two first names I pour about 1/3 bottle ( 5oz.) of hydrogen peroxide with liquid detergent directly into the washing machine with a full load. Used to use bleach but whites got dull and yellowed over time.

I like to take the detergent that I use for washing clothes and make a paste adding vinegar and water to dry powder or a little vinegar to the liquid detergent. I use the top of my washer and with a toothbrush or any scrub brush that you have, scrub the area (neck, underarms, spots) and let set for about an hour. add to your other load and wash. You may have to do this a couple of times, depending on how long the stain has been there. Good luck.

I have had great luck with "Awesome" (the yellow one, sold as a degreaser). You can find it a dollar stores and it is cheap. I have been using it for the past 6 years ( and we play all year long). It works on grass, clay, sweat, and black mud stains. Just remove as much dirt as you can, spray it on and let it sit for a few hours. Then wash as usual. It has worked wonders for us and it doesn't damage the fabric. Use full strength and in a well ventilated area while spraying.

Mix three white, non-coated aspirin tablets with a cup of warm water and a tablespoon of cream of tartar (you probably have a can in your kitchen cupboard!). Scrub the solution into the underarm area of the baseball uniform with a nailbrush or old toothbrush, then allow the mixture to remain on the garment for at least 20 minutes. Launder as usual. Repeat, if necessary.
