Filing cabinet remake- what paint would be best?

I want to paint an old two drawer metal filing cabinet and convert it into a tool holder. The nice thing is its already on casters. The top of the drawers have a faux wooden laminate finish. I'm wondering what kind of paint would be best to use and if I should also prime it given the laminate top of the drawers.

As long as you lightly sand, clean and prime with two coats of primer any paint will be ok.

Hi Janet, ask someone at Lowe's what to do in this case. Sanding off the file cabinet, and then make sure all the areas in the cabinet, are free from any dust, and leave each file, away from the cabinet, until dried and done.

Some areas may need more than one coat of paint, so be alert to this, too.

      Best wishes, J.

I'd clean it with tsp, sand, and wipe off dust. Apply 2 coats of Kilz2 primer allowing to properly dry between coats. Paint with your desired paint. Best of luck.

Rustoleum spray primer and Rustoleum spray paint for metal will work great for you.
