How do I get a small flower garden when grass only grows in one spot

turn your soil over ,mix abag of organic soil into it, add some pellets of ozmogate

Amend your soil with a garden soil for flowers and peat moss.

What is there now? If there was some chemical there you may noot be able to grow directly in the soil and raised beds with landscaping fabric bottoms may be your best bet.

This is what I did to start my flower beds years ago and how I maintain them and I hate to brag but I have always have beautiful flowers now. Start by turning your soil to aerate it and if you see any grub worms find out from a nursery what is the best way in your area on how to get rid of those root eating pest they will wipe out a flower bed in no time so always be on the look out for them. I usually turn my soil for 3 or 4 days to make sure its good and aerated then turn in 3 or 4 large bags of Miracle Grow soil for in ground use then I use Miracle Grow all purpose plant food to maintain my plants. My dad always used it in his vegetable garden and I decided after several years of my mom saying I don't know why you buy flowers your brown thumb will just kill them LOL so with the help of my dad and Miracle Grow my brown thumb turned green and I have beautiful flowers. get a soil sample analysed by your local Agricultural Extension Agent/Office -- look under 'County' or 'State' headings in a phone book, or 'google' for your County/State. You cannot 'fix' something if you don't know what is 'wrong' with it. You could cause more harm than good by adding the 'wrong' stuff!

Check that the place is good with drainage, sun exposure, etc.....follow the suggestions to add garden soil, compost...try perennials that you know (or ask) th will do good in your zone (area)
