I didn't know I could bring COLEUS in for the winter. So now the have been through the frost and look brown and dead. Can they be bought back to life? Also I cut twigs from some neighborhood trees icon for an outdoor Christmas planter (18" pot) and left the twigs in the soil after. I noticed they have aprouted icon . Will these sprouts just become twigs with leaves icon if left to grow or become trees? Thank you in advance

For the coleus you can try removing the dead leaves and waiting. Continue to water the plant as needed to keep the soil moist and apply a fertilizer. It's possible that new growth will emerge within a week or two, but chances are the plant is dead and should be discarded or sent to the compost pile.

Thank you Hillela G, I'm going to try that but, I think you might be right about it being a lost cause.

Coleus will not survive cold temperatures,so I would think there is no way to revive them.

I may not know much bout keeping Coleus alive through winter but, I know how to kill weeds and plants lol. I don't know if this trick would work in a garden. But, I use it to kill weeds in the cracks in the walkway no poison what so ever. I pour BOILING HOT WATER on the weed to kill it. It works in just days. I pour a couple days again to make sure it reached the root. In less then a week I simply pull the dried up weed and done.

Sometimes we all learn the hard way. Most garden centers have seperate areas for annuals and perenials. There is also good information on the tag that comes with the plant. Make sure you have a tag in the plant you choose so when you get home you can check for light requirements and spacing of plants. Unfortunitly they usually don't list if there perenials or annuals. Good luck and keep the questions coming.
