How do I get rid of banana trees so they won't come back up?

    Proving there are no other plants involved cut the tree down,make a hole in the trunk and pour rock salt to stomp out down.

    You'll have to dig up the bulbs/tubers. Otherwise, they keep coming back and will continue to spread out across your yard. Do NOT pour salt on your ground! You'll not be able to grow anything there if you do.

    We have many banana trees in our yard, but sometimes they get out of hand. We use a shovel to remove the pups before they start putting out leaves. If you want to get rid of an existing tree that has already grown, we cut it down leaving a few inches of stalk above the ground and push a shovel down into the plant to "chop" the inside of the plant. Throw some dirt on this and it will rot.
