What is the best way to clean black river rock flooring in my shower?

Step 1--Mix 1 part vinegar with 16 parts water in a spray bottle. (I found adding detergent helps it stay on the surface longer)

Step 2--Spray the vinegar water over the pebble surface thoroughly. Allow it to sit for a few minutes to help lift soap scum and hard-water deposits.

Step 3--Scour the pebbles and grout with a nylon-bristle scrub brush, using a circular motion to get around the stones and into the corners.

Step 4--Turn on the shower to rinse the shower floor with warm water.

Step 5 --Remove persistent stains with a mix of 1 part hydrochloric acid -- hydrogen chloride -- to 10 parts water, using the scrub brush, if suggested in the manufacturer's cleaning guidelines. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses, and make sure the room is ventilated by turning on the bathroom fan or opening nearby windows when you mix and use hydrochloric acid.

Step 6--Dry the floor to avoid water spots, using an old terry towel.

If you wipe down your shower every time you use it with an old towel or micro cloth or squeege it will not build up lime or soap scum. It only takes a couple of minutes and it sure beats having to scrub it.

I agree and do that. I also find that using liquid body wash helps a lot rather than bathing with bar soap. My query was about cleaning black river rock shower floor.

Spray your pebbles with white vinegar and let sit for about 10 minutes. Then, simply scrub and rinse.

White vinegar is good for cleaning the pebble shower floor, Spritz it on and let it set min, take a soft brush and scrub, rinse well.

Heat up 1 cup of white vinegar, mix in about 1/4 cup of Dawn Platinum . Not the dollar store kind, because it is too thin. When mixed, pour into a spray bottle and fill with water. Shake. Spray down the grout as well, and let it sit overnight. In the morning rinse. If you have stubborn stains, spray again. Use this mixture a few times a week. It will keep your grout and tiles clean. Also works wonders in the toilet bowl to keep hard water stains at bay. Oh you only have to heat the vinegar one time when you add the Dawn.

Soap scum and hard water are the likely culprits for your black stones not looking their best. I agree with those who suggested vinegar. I use an old towel to cover the bottom of the shower and simply pour or spray a liberal amount of the vinegar onto the towel. The soaking towel helps to keep the stones covered and keeps the vinegar from simply running down the drain. Best to do this at night so the vinegar-soaked towel can work its magic overnight.

I’d try 2:1 baking soda to water or peroxide (do a small test first) rather than vinegar at vinegar etches and damages grout. Too, I’d probably pick up a soft scrub type cleaner from the store.

Hi Kamilla! Mix oxyclean at twice the strength recommended on the side of the tub. Scrub the floor with it and a brush. DO NOT just rinse it down the drain. It'll allow the dirt to settle back into the pores.
