I want to build a small patio for a firepit- any tips?

    Measure for what size you want. Figure out how many stones or tiles you want. Dig down for a couple of inches of crushed limestone and then a couple of inches of sand. Use a level to lay your stones then put sand over to fill the grooves. Sweep excess sand off.

    Barb gave you the complete instructions. Sounds easy but it is not so. You MUST get everything level from the ground up!

    Make sure you give yourself enough room for the firepit and ample seating area around it.

    Figure where you want your fire pit to be, giving amply room so it isn't under trees that could possibly catch fire. Gather together some pallet boards & place them around the general area desired for seating; setting them close together to form one 'deck' type surface. Take apart some pallet boards to use to fill in the gaps where the other pallet boards need them...continue until you have one continuous floor for seating [level the ground under them as needed]...some pallet boards can be cut in half & placed between the 'base deck' sections to create areas to set beverages or snacks. Sand & stain/paint as desired & enjoy!
