What's best replacement nail for those nails that come lose on siding.

The nails are lose on old, pressboard type, lap siding. Looking to replace them with a better holding nail. Will increase the size of the nail. (present nail is a, smooth, 2" long ?penny ) Replacements will be inserted into the existing holes.

Raul it sounds like you're right on the money with a wider nail, penny nails don't really hold anything.
What about coated nails? They have a shellac coating that sort of melts with the heat of the sun, effectively gluing them in place.
