Water is key to successfully growing princess palms, because they are not drought tolerant. Provide 3/4 inch of water twice weekly year-round, except during rainy weather. Increase the water by half during periods of extreme heat. The palms benefit from feeding with slow-release palm formula fertilizer with a ratio of 8-2-12. Apply 1 pound of fertilizer for every 100 square feet of canopy three times annually; always be sure to moisten the soil before applying the fertilizer, to prevent root burn.
