What can be applied to indoor plants to kill gnats in winter?

We used stuff designated to kill fungus gnats & it killed my hibiscus last winter

    What product was used? Are sure are sure they were fungus gnats and not fruit flies?

    I think you are describing white fly. I used a spectrcide which you put in the soil which will take about two weeks to work. Then I sprayed around my plant with a very, very, very, light mist of Raid Ant Spray. That took care of the flies. And be very careful because these white flies with get on other plants that are near them. Isolate the plant if you can. I alway use the spectricide when bringing my houseplants in the house at the end of summer. The white flys are a little hard to get rid of and the plants will look very sad when you have them.
