salt and vinegar but it will kill everything
try pouring boiling water on them I have not found anything that will survive that
The most effective way we've found is to cut them off at ground level. Remove the whole top but don't touch or remove the root system. The roots can't live without the tops which feed the roots. It can't make food without the leaves. It's not the speediest way but very effective.
Remove the tops before they set seeds.
Dig them up. You have to be consistant and get them before they bloom out. Just like dandelions they have a million seeds in every bloom.
