It's in the laundry room at about 4 feet up the wall which is cinder block. The opening is about three to four feet wide and the area is the size of a one car garage (it's under our garage).

What about a barn door? That's a trendy solution.

I would use Fiberglass stuffing like you use in attics. Make sure you use gloves because the glass iin the fiber will cut your hands. Piece it in chunks and keep stuffing it. It will also fill the wall for cold. I don't know what your weather situation may be, but it will also keep the heat out. That stuff comes in rolls.

Maybe you can roll it under the garage floor until it stops going forward. Then just stuff the opening. If you don't want to do that, you can get a piece of heavy fiberwood. Use concrete nail and nail the hole shut.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If it's just to keep critters out but want it decorative a wood lattice would be nice. You might want to still have access to the space in case you need to get under the house for some reason.

You could build a wooden frame in the interior of the opening with a groove routed in the top and bottom piece, and cut two piece of 1/4"- 1/2" plywood for sliding doors ( must overlap). You could put some flat quilted insulation, like the kind used in sun shades for car on the back to reduce heat loss.

Make a wooden door and attach to hinges, put a handle on the other end.

I have seen people take shutters and attach them to look like a cupboard
