How about some of the decorative window films. I got green leaves on Amazon. They also make stainglass.
Making shelves with support brackets sounds like a good idea. That will keep your collection safe when travelling. And if you use any glass, it will be contained while on the road. Hope this helps. Good luck.
You might want to consider the "Vehicle Window Graphic Shades". It contains a picture of just about anything you want, allows you to see out, but prevents people for looking in. I put in quotes the google search term that will take you to many options.
