Should a Arbor be attached to a house, for safety ?

    Most arbors a free standing. The arbor posts are secured to a footing or cemented in the ground. If its an arbor that is designed to be attached to the house then it should be.

    I agree 100% with William. My hubby and I built one, but first we dug each holes three feet deep. Then we poured concrete into the holes, and let the concrete harden while the poles were in each hole, for 24 hours. This, like anything else that concrete is poured into, will withstand wind. Hope this help to.

    A properly built anything will withstand wind and weather.

    My hubby and I built one for concord grapes to grow on years ago, We did as Ivory did and it was still standing when we moved 5 years later.
