    Have them choose an item they want to plant so they're interested. And maybe make it a competition to see who yields the most veggies or whose flowers do the best.

    Make a game out of it,take them to a nursery and get a feel for what they may be interested in.Have a contest in mine and a prize picked out.

    Ha! Good Luck! They love the garden when they are little, think it is lame when they are teens, plant their own as soon as they get their own place. It is a process.

    What do they like to eat? French fries ? You get to plant and take care of potatoes . What's that ? You want some more of the strawberry shortcake ? That's what you get to take care of !
