Depending on the season...Christmas: I use large pine cones, felt faux stockings, faux packages & tie them together with ribbon & hang them at each end of the rods. The same treatment can be done for Valentine's Day by removing the Christmas aspect[s]...a cascade of colorful, curled ribbons with silk flowers would be pretty for the balance of the year [changing from SPRING flowers to SUMMER flowers or FALL colors/leaves would also be a nice change for the room. NOTE: Faux Felt stockings are made from flat felt pieces cut out & glued together & a ribbon attached at the top; the Faux Packages are pieces of Styrofoam cut to various sizes that are wrapped in seasonal paper with a ribbon attached.

You can take premade curtains and add a strip of fabric to the bottom to add length and contrast.

We took handwritten recipes and embroidered them on to tea towels. We had these mounted and put into black frames. They look stunning!

Take pine cones & add a 'hanger' wire...add an artificial flower & ribbon, then add a 'faux package [made of a small square of Styrofoam wrapped in gift wrap]. Hang by the/a ribbon from each end of the curtain rod...change according to the season or as desired.
