I wash my metal plates below the door frame, with amonia, and vinegar, and I have no problems. Also, be sure to wash the whole frame, inside and out, in case there are other ants outside. Then, I sprinkle salt, on the moise plate, and have no problems. Best wishes, J.
This isn't a DIY remedy but I get a bimonthly spray from a professional company. Which covers ants, spiders, fleas, even nice snakes and termites. It is a great investment.
Amdro, look for it at home stores. Specifically for ants.
Grind coarsely some rice and put it in front of the mound's holes. The ant take the bits eagerly home and as mould grows on the rice they die. Don't try this if the ant's nest is IN your walls or ceiling, because it could cause nasty humidity problems.
