My friends are always taken in by the beautiful, flowering bushes in my yard. They are literally overflowing with blooms. I would love to share them, there is more than enough to go around. How can I grow plants from plants?

What plants do you want to propagate?

Sure. Most are Camilla. One is Gardenia. I am also trying to root clippings of English Ivy (gone wild). I have some Bamboo that is almost impossible to cut.

Depends on the plant. If it spreads by shoots, dig one up and pot it. You could propagate by cuttings using rooting hormone.

There is a product know as root tone in my area. It is a powder with growing type plant hormones. I generally cut...not with scissors or shears...use the sharpest knife you have...a newer growth from the plant..dust the sprig with the hormone powder. Stick sprig into potting mix and keep moist, not dry or drowned. Works best if sprig cut late spring early summer.....now is good. Sprigs should be 2 to 3 inches long. That should help with the Camilla. I have heard of using the rooting hormone and using gel Chrystal's instead of st. Water.

The ivy Ivy is much easier. The process is called layering in my area. Set a pot next to the roots of the ivy. Grab a vine...run it across the pot. Cover a few area of the vine with potting mix. Water. Give it few weeks. Gently loosen from pot and check roots. My English ivy has taken to growing in the cement bricks of the basement wall.

Your on on your own about the bamboo. My knowledge of the stuff ends in a fishing pole.
