What can I use to brighten and preserve my 60 years old oak floors?

I've looked for floor wax but can't find any at HEB. Mineral oil works well on my wooden cutting board. Would it work on my floors, too? Thanks for any suggestions πŸ˜ŠπŸŒˆπŸŒŽπŸŒ‡

I only use Murphys Oil on my wood floors

I facelifted an old hardwood floor by stripping old wax with ammonia, then, rinsing it well. Allow it to dry for many hours. Repair any areas requiring it, then, using a stain the same color as your floor, wipe over the entire floor to refresh it's color before applying several coats of polyurethane. I used 6 coats of semigloss, and it is beautiful. The gloss is overkill on the shine factor for me, it looks a bit fake.

Wow! Thanks, I'll try the ammonia and skip the polyurethane.

Those are gorgeous floors! Good luck

Don't skip the polyacrylic coating. Apply 2 or 3. Dries quickly like latex paint.

Use a lamb's wool mop to put it on. If you don't add poly, your floors will get marked and gouged in no time. The KEY is use a satin finish - just a slight shine.
