We use an anti-emergent in ours. It comes in granuals that you have to sprinkle on but it works like a charm. It stops the weed seeds from germinating. You can get it from home Depot for pretty cheap!

Preen is what I use. It works really well. I use mulched leaves instead of wood on my veggie garden. I put it down before I put the mulch down and I may apply some to the top if I notice an area starting to get weeds on top.
Spray them with vinegar and salt.
