If it has the little groove and the flexible piece of wood holding it in it is very simple. Pry out the piece holding it in, take off the old caning, put new on, if I remember correctly I think you need to soak it to make it flexible, then put the piece back into the groove. When it dries you can stain it. I would look for a youtube video.
