Bird Cages, Blooms and Kisses

When discarded bird cages turn up in your lap what do you do with them? You plant them and add special mementos to bring a smile to your face every time you see them.
This cage was out in a farmer's field, LOVED the color. I helped him by removing it out of his way ;) No bottom, no worries - picked up an aluminum baking pan from Dollar Tree! Poked a few holes in the bottom for drainage.
Added Moisture Control soil to help with the Summer heat and planted with Impatiens. I also added sphagnum moss to hep hold in the moisture during our hot 105 Summer days. Propped up one of my "kissing Angels" in the middle. It will look great when it fills in!
This one was free at a yard sale because it's sliding tray was missing. Poor lonely thing. I snatched it up. I stuffed sphagnum moss into the front opening
where the tray would be. Covered the inside of the moss with a coffee filter
to keep soil from escaping when it drains.
Added soil and planted more Impatiens.
Yep, another angel blowing a kiss.
Sphagnum moss again over the top of the soil.
In her final resting spot near the front door to greet everyone.
Of course, you can choose a special figure or no figure for your bird cage
