Going to try planting cantelope again. Any tips?

I've tried in the past with no luck. Get plenty of hot sun. Think it is the soil. Any tips? Everything else grows well in my garden. (Tomato, squash, beets, carrots, herbs) thank you.

I planted them and trained them to go over an arch with my cucumbers. They did awesome and got huge
Test your soil to make sure you have the right nutirents compost compost really helps
I grew up planting fields and fields of cantaloupe and one of the most important thing is they like lots and lots of water
